    KUWTK Season Premiere Recap

They’re back! Sunday’s season eight premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians was chock full of the fun and family drama fans have come to expect from the series. The biggest moment, of course, was the much-anticipated gender reveal of Kim’s baby with boyfriend Kanye West. In the last 10 minutes of the episode, Kim’s doctor finally confirmed what Us Weekly exclusively reported back in February: that she and West are having a baby girl!

The happy news couldn’t have come at a better time. Kim had seemed less-than-thrilled for most of the hour, stressed over her work obligations, house-hunting, and being pregnant while still going through divorce proceedings with ex Kris Humphries. But all that changed as soon as the first-time mother-to-be — accompanied by mom Kris Jenner and sisters Kourtney and Khloe — learned her baby’s gender.

“I’m so excited we’re having a girl,” she gushed. “Like, who doesn’t want a girl? They’re the best. And I know that’s what Kanye has always wanted. He wanted a little girl.”
Afterward, she seemed to relax a little. “I finally feel like I’m at a really good place being pregnant,” she said. Then, playing some of West’s music for her baby, she added sweetly, “This is your daddy singing.”

Elsewhere in the family, Kris and Bruce Jenner argued over Bruce’s rowdy get-together with his friends. Fed up with the late-night ruckus, Kris suggested he get a “man cave” — and Bruce (much to his wife’s disappointment) agreed. He rented a beachfront property in Malibu and proceeded to stock it with all of his favorite things.

The couple’s kids were understandably concerned that their parents were living in separate homes. Kris assured them things were fine, but it didn’t take long for her to miss her husband. After a little nudging from Kylie, she went to “get her man.” He came home later to a gourmet meal and a festively dressed wife.

Her daughter Kourtney, meanwhile, was having some relationship troubles of her own with boyfriend Scott Disick. Scott wanted to experiment with a few new moves in bed; in particular, he wanted to “put it in the back door.”

Kourtney was disgusted, but at Khloe’s urging, she agreed to try it — if Scott tried it first. (She even brought out a prop to prove she was serious.)

“Are you insane?!” he replied. “This isn’t a two-way street!”

As Kim Kardashian hits back at the haters who have slated her baby body, we get a glimpse into the crazy world of her mega-famous family.

Keeping up with the Kardashians, as it were, is a terribly exhausting business.

By the time our whirlwind day with formidable trio of sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloé is over, the universal reaction from Team Fabulous is to collapse in a heap, wearing thousand-yard stares and clutching medicinal white wines.
That’s not to say it hasn’t been hugely entertaining. The girls arrive at the crack of dawn, with a cast of thousands in tow. At least three publicists, two film crews, assorted hair, make-up and styling teams and a nanny for Kourtney’s baby, Penelope, are just a fraction of what is quite a staggering entourage.

It’s a meticulously coordinated monster of an operation and fascinating to watch. Throughout our exclusive shoot, whispered instructions from the top filter down the chain of command. And whatever the job is, it gets done in seconds. It’s a system that means the sisters themselves never once look flustered or stressed.

It’s been nearly six years since the Kardashian family launched themselves into the public consciousness and set about their now largely achieved quest for global domination. They capitalised initially on Kim’s notoriety as Paris Hilton’s (former) BFF and her starring role in the sex tape, which now must never be spoken of. Kim’s wily matriarch-turned-“momager” Kris Jenner, 57, spied an opportunity and the hilarious, no-holds-barred reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians – where there’s never a dull moment, although plenty of preposterous ones – was born.

Today, Kourtney, 34, Kim, 32, and Khloé, 28, are promoting the second drop of their clothing range, the Kardashian Kollection, exclusively for Dorothy Perkins. But while we’re supposed to be talking clothes, there’s one thing we are more than obsessed with – the arrival of the Kardashians’ newest member.

By the time seven-month-pregnant Kim gives birth in July, you wouldn’t be blamed if you felt like reaching for the gas and air along with her. Gosh, it has been a long incubation.

Since rap-star boyfriend Kanye West publicly announced Kim as his “baby mama” on New Year’s Eve, we’ve been treated to every spit and cough of said pregnancy. We’ve lived and breathed the dramas, the bump watching, the potential names and, of course, the thrice-daily fashion updates from the media: “Kim gets it wrong!” “Kim gets it right!” ”Whoops, Kim gets it wrong! Again!”

Poor, pregnant Kim. As if being a mum to be wasn’t tough enough, she’s had to put up with those commentators judging her every outfit on the basis of how big it makes her backside appear, while chastising her for daring to actually look pregnant, as opposed to sporting the regulation barely there celebrity bump. “I used to Google myself, but not any more,” she says, resignedly. “I haven’t in a while. The internet is very informational [sic] and you can find whatever you’re looking for on any subject. But people take advantage of it and use it to do something negative. I just think, why surround yourself with negative things when you don’t have to? I definitely avoid certain things, like looking at the comments. It’s just not worth my while.”

For the record, Kim looks exactly as she should – healthy and glowing – although the way she tugs awkwardly at her blazer throughout the interview suggests she’s not entirely at ease with her blooming figure. “I think I was trying to hide it for a while, but I’m still at the stage where nothing looks good, so I’ve found it really difficult to get dressed,” she says. “I’m learning that stretchy is everything. Blazers and stretchy fabrics are going to be my new thing. Right now, there’s not much that will fit me.”

Elder sister Kourtney chips in supportively: “But that’s how your body is when you’re pregnant. At first it looks better with loose clothes, then you get to the point where it looks better in tight.” Kim sighs. “Kourtney is so tiny that when she was nine months pregnant it was like my regular size.” “Oh. Shut. Up,” snorts former US X Factor host Khloé.

Mother-of-two Kourtney has been a constant source of support to Kim through the last few hormone-fuelled months.
Kim says: “She sees people come up to me and try to give me every single bit of information. I get overwhelmed, then she steps in and says: ‘OK, we need to go to the bathroom now,’ and she pulls me away. When it comes to pregnancy, everyone has an opinion.”

Khloé, whose fertility problems have been well documented on the family’s various reality shows (seriously, nothing is off-limits), adds: “It would freak me out. How do you remember it all? All the rules!”

Lest we forget, there is another celebrity baby due in July – the one belonging to Kate and Wills. Does Kim feel any goldfish-bowl-type affinity with the duchess? “I try not to pay attention to the comparisons,” she replies. “I just hope that anyone who is having a baby has a healthy pregnancy and enjoys it.” “But Kate and William are so cute together!” adds Khloé.

Any semblance of anonymity for the family has long gone. Half-sisters Kendall, 17, and Kylie, 15 (from Kris’ second marriage to former Olympian Bruce Jenner, 63), have never really known life outside of the limelight. Kourtney’s three-year-old son, Mason, and daughter Penelope, 10 months, have been followed by the cameras since birth.
And what, pray, will become of baby Kimye?

“It does worry me when I think about it,” says Kim. “But, at the same time, my little sisters have grown up so amazingly, with really good heads on their shoulders.”

Kanye, 35, has made a couple of rather stony-faced cameos on Keeping Up With The Kardashians but, although not exactly the shy-and-retiring type himself, he’s made it clear he won’t become a regular cast member, like Khloé’s basketball-player husband Lamar Odom, 33, and Kourtney’s partner Scott Disick, 29. Has her pregnancy made Kim reassess and think about possibly holding back from the spotlight a bit?

“I’m definitely more of a recluse since I was pregnant,” she says. “But I haven’t necessarily decided to hold myself back, it’s just preparing myself for respecting the privacy of my child and my boyfriend. We live different lives, but I love being open. That’s who I’ve always been and sharing so much of myself – I love that. That’ll never change because that is who I am. It’s more about gearing up to protect other people.” Will they sell the first pictures of the newborn? “That’s nothing I’ve really thought about yet.”

    That wasn’t a no.

Masters of the art of self-promotion, the Kardashians may epitomise the “fame for fame’s sake” phenomenon, but they’ve also been remarkably astute – there have been no drugs scandals, no vomiting episodes outside of nightclubs. And here’s the thing: at the heart of all the nonsense is a family who really do love each other and know how to have fun together.

It’s perhaps little wonder, then, that they’ve been so successful. The fly-on-the-wall series is now shown worldwide, there have been several lucrative spin-offs and a booming business empire has emerged, exploiting the hell out of every last possible gap in the market (Kardashian water, anyone?). There are perfumes and swimwear lines, cosmetics and books.

Between them, the sisters have over 34 million Twitter followers and the family is reported to have a collective worth of £50million (half of which is said to come from Kim alone). Kim also hogs the majority of the headlines, thanks to her astonishing looks, a marriage to NBA star Kris Humphries that lasted only 72 days and, most recently, her pregnancy and relationship with Kanye.

Ironically, considering she ended up giving birth in front of the E! cameras last July, it was Kourtney who was the most hesitant to sign up for the show that was to take over their lives. “Yeah, I was reluctant at first. I think I was just being a protective older sibling. I didn’t know how things would be edited,” she says. Khloé was happy to go along with what began as an idea cooked up between Kim and mum Kris, although she admits to not being fully aware of what it would entail: “Me and Kourt were kind of blind-sided. Mom and Kim knew what was going on and it all happened so fast.”

Kim thinks the fact that no one really understood what they were letting themselves in for is the secret to the show’s success. “When my mom came with the idea I was like: ‘OK.’ Within a couple of days we were filming, so we didn’t really have time to digest it. That’s the beauty.” Khloé continues: “I think if we’d had time to analyse it, we would have thought about it too much and wouldn’t have been able to be ourselves. I forget that I do these things. I go to the gynaecologist and they’re filming and I don’t even think about it. We’ve had the same camera crew since day one and we’re so comfortable with them, they’re like family.”

When you’re granted just 20 minutes interview time (sigh), it’s hard to make a fair assessment but – on the surface, at least – the girls are engaged and engaging. Kim and Kourtney are handed framed pictures of their previous Fabulous cover and gasp with what appears to be genuine gratitude. “I loved that shoot!” says Kim. “It was so much fun. It’s so cute.” She adds that, actually, she already has a copy of it framed at home, in pride of place on her “glamour wall”. Er, whatever that is, we want one.

Kim is dazzling, but Khloé is the most striking. Statuesque and stunning, she’s self-deprecating, quick-witted and takes charge of the interview. She’s the one you’d most like to share a bottle of Pinot with. She’s also easily the most confident in front of the cameras, as the girls model their Kardashian Kollection for Dorothy Perkins – another dead-cert money-spinner.

“In this spring/summer collection, you can see there are pieces that are more individual,” says Khloé. “There’s a shorts suit set, which is more towards Kourtney. Then there are the bodycon dresses, which are more suited to me and Kim. We’re all blazer girls, so while we might not wear the shorts suit, we can wear the blazer a million different ways.”

Kim’s curves, Khloé’s height and Kourtney’s petite shape are all catered for. “We all have such different body shapes and so we have to incorporate that,” says Kim. “We got such a great response from that first launch and so Dorothy Perkins trusted us a little bit more second time. This time it’s more of a representation of our personalities.”

The first UK Kardashian Kollection launch last autumn saw 10,000 screaming fans descend on Westfield shopping centre in London’s Shepherd’s Bush. Girls from mid-teens to early 20s adore them, as Fabulous found out in a recent Q&A session with a group of media students. Of all the questions the wannabe journos could have asked, it was our 2011 cover with Kim and Kourtney that attracted the most attention.

“What were they really like?” Perfectly pleasant.
“Is Kim as gorgeous in real life?” Probably more so.

Of the launch, Kim says: “We had no idea it would be that crazy in the UK. It was so insane and intense. It was Khloé’s first time in the UK and she was blown away.”
Khloé says: “I always get nervous, like, what if no one comes?”

    Even now?

“Yeah! Kourtney’s the opposite of me; she gets nervous that there’s going to be a stampede. It’s funny to see behind the scenes because Kim and I are always nervous that no one’s going to come and Kourtney’s like…”
“I’m like: ‘Please no one come!’” says Kourtney. “But then I love seeing everyone.”
Khloé says: “I think it’s because she’s so little she gets nervous. She’s only 5ft tall.”
Kim looks disdainful. “What does being little have to do with being nervous?”
Khloé: “Because when there’s too many people, it’s scary.”

With so much already conquered, there can’t be much left on the Kardashian hit list. Music? Movies? Er… politics?
“I think Kim would be an amazing politician!” Khloé exclaims. Kim’s not so sure. “Really? You think? I don’t know if it’s my thing. I’m interested sometimes. I try to keep an eye on what’s going on in the world. Sometimes when you’re travelling a lot it’s difficult, but I do try.” Kim Kardashian running for office? Cough, splutter, cough! But hey, you don’t need to look any further than the Kardashian story itself to see that stranger things have happened.

Inside The Kardashians Interview with Ireland’s Stellar Magazine!

Cast your mind back for a moment, if you will, to a time before the Kardashians… Go on, try a little harder. You can do it.. No? Neither can we. Despite the fact that it’s only been five years since the first episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians aired, it feels like Kourtney, Kim and Khloé have been around since the beginning of time. Or, at the very least, the beginning of the century.

Which is not really that surprising when you think about it. Love them or not (we love them, FYI), they’re damn smart businesswomen. Not only are their perfectly made-up faces constantly on our tellyboxes, with no less than four spin-offs including, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take Miami and Khloé & Lamar, they’ve not infiltrated our wardrobes and our beauty bags too. And we don’t mind one little bit.

No longer content with their DASH stores Stateside, this month sees the return of their fashion line, Kardashian Kollection, available this side of the pond and exclusive in Dorothy Perkins. The perfect mix of structure, sexiness and a little boho chic thrown in for good measure, their S/S 2013 collection has it all: figure-hugging dresses, floaty Kaftans, and Kardashian must-have – the blazer.

So what was it like for the sisters to work together again on their collection? What are their favourite pieces? And what are their top fashion tips of all time? Well, funny you should ask, because that’s exactly what STELLAR found out when we scored the ONLY Irish interview with the girls themselves. Yes, we really nearly did lose our Kool (like what we did there?) when we found out we’d get to chat to the world’s biggest reality stars. Here they talk exclusively to STELLAR about style, sexiness and how to take the best selfies. Sure, if anyone knows how to do that well, it’s these three…

    Describe your own personal style?
KIM: My style is constantly evolving, but I tend to wear pieces that are feminine, sexy and sophisticated.
KOURTNEY: Not that I’m a mom I do place more importance on comfort, but I still like to mix it up and take some fashion risks.
KHLOÉ: My style often depends on my mood that day. I believe that nothing is sexier than a woman who looks confident in her outfit.

Can you sum up your clothing line, Kardashian Kollection, in three words?
    KOURTNEY: Fashionable, eclectic, affordable.
    KIM: Flattering, accessible, fun.
    KHLOÉ: Something for everyone!

What was it like working together on Kardashian Kollection?
KOURTNEY: Even though we don’t always agree, we had so much fun working through our different ideas and inspirations to design Kardashian Kollection.
KHLOÉ: We all have different tastes, but are really good at listening to each other’s opinions.
KIM: The Great thing about our line for Dorothy Perkins is that there are pieces that reflect all three of us and our different body shapes. We work really closely with each other to design clothes that work for every woman, whether short, tall, curvy or slim.

What’s your favourite piece from the collection?
KIM: There are several, but if I had to choose, it would be the white bodycon dress with the sweetheart neckline. It’s really flattering for the hourglass figure, and summer whites are essential for S/S13.
KHLOÉ: I love the PU circle skirt. It comes in both black and cream and literally goes with everything.
KOURTNEY: One of my favourties is the monochrome A-line mesh dress. It’s really pretty and feminine, but still sophisticated and grown-up.

    Who’s your style icon?
KIM: I love simple and chic and I can’t actually think of a style icon at the moment, but my friend and designer Rachel Roy has amazing style.
KHLOÉ: I admire Jennifer Lopez’s style – she’s fun and feminine and never afraid to flaunt her curves.
KOURTNEY: Kate Moss has always been one of my top style icons. She can wear just about anything and look effortlessly put-together.

What are the five key pieces every woman should have in her wardrobe?
KOURTNEY: A pair of jeans you feel confident and comfortable in, a blazer that works from day to night, a basic white tee that goes with anything, a pair of pumps that are both sexy and comfortable, and a statement bag that can instantly change your look.

    What’s your fashion weakness?
KHLOÉ: Shoes! I can never have enough shoes!

What are your top fashion tips?
KIM: Stick to clothes that work on your body type and ask friends you trust to give you an honest opinion. Some of the best fashion advice I’ve ever received has been from close friends.
KHLOÉ: Whatever you do, carry yourself with confidence. Don’t be embarrassed to invest in a pair of spanks if they’re going to help you feel better in what you’re wearing–everyone needs a bit of help once in a while.
KOURTNEY: Make everything your own and don’t be afraid to take risks by adding your own touch.

What’s your favourite trend for summer?
KIM: I’ve been wearing a lot of monochrome recently, but I also really like the coulour blocking trend. It can be really simple, but bold at the same time, depending on the print and colour.
KHLOÉ: Pencil skirts were all over the runways for S/S13. They’re a staple piece that everyone should have in their closet because they flatter and elongate any frame. For summer I love the style in bold colours and prints.

Who takes the longest to get ready?
    KHLOÉ: Kim!
    KOURTNEY: Kim!
    KIM: Me!

    What are your beauty essentials?
KHLOÉ: Mascara is a must for me.
KOURTNEY: Water, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, bronzer and mascara from our cosmetic line.

What are your secrets to such super shiny hair?
KHLOÉ: I swear by coconut oil! I use it a few times a week and it has changed my hair.
KOURTNEY: Making sure I take care of my body from within. I take a teaspoon of ghee butter every morning which keeps hair and skin moisturized.

    What makes you feel sexy?
KIM: Wearing clothes that make me feel confident.
    KHLOÉ: My husband.
    KOURTNEY: Compliments!

What are your top tips for posing in photos? And for taking the best selfies?
KIM: Practice!!! Do lots and pick the best ones!
KHLOÉ: Stand up straight, tilt your head down a little to hide the double chin, and smiiizzzeee!
KOURTNEY: Practice in the mirror so your know what you like. And nothing is prettier than a real laugh or smile so have fun.

Finally, what’s next for the Kardashians?
KOURTNEY: You’ll have to stay tunes to find out!

    WINSLOW/PRAHL/SPLASH NEWS ONLINE

PEOPLE: How has your mom’s style influenced your own?
Kourtney: My mom has always been into fashion. When I was a little girl, I would always play in her closet with Kim. She put the love of fashion in our blood.
Kim: My mom is always so well put together and really takes care of herself. It’s very inspiring to see her always look so elegant and flawless.
Khloé: Our mother has always been stylish. She is always put together in some way or fashion. She has inspired me to always want to dress to impress.
Kourtney: I have always admired her style and still do. She has an effortless style … and an eclectic style. Being effortless and eclectic are two fashion attributes I admire and also ones I think I inherited. Both of our grandmothers have always been into fashion as well. I have many of their pieces in my closet that I cherish.
Khloé: I love that [my mom] embodies being a woman [through her] fashion, beauty and skin care. We know what we know because of her.

PEOPLE: Anything that she still nags you about wearing … or not wearing?
Kourtney: No, actually! Her comments are always complimentary when it comes to style and fashion.
Kim: She does nag sometimes about clothes and fashion, but she means well!
Khloé: When I was a teenager I used to wear sweat suits a lot and she would always encourage me to get dressed up more. And now looking back I love her for that! At the time it was nagging but I understand why. Now she truly doesn’t nag about my style. She might steal my clothes now, but that’s a compliment!

PEOPLE: What’s something you always wanted to borrow from your mom’s closet that she wouldn’t let you touch?
Kourtney: She would let me borrow anything. She loves when we wear her stuff. I tend to take her older vintage pieces that she doesn’t wear anymore, so maybe if I took something new she would have a different opinion. But in general, stuff is stuff. What fun is it if you don’t share?
Kim: She is very generous, so nothing is really off-limits! I’m sure when we were younger, though, she wouldn’t let us wear her jewelry or her Judith Leiber bags.
Khloé: My mom and sisters had these amazing Chloé wide leg trousers and I always wanted a pair. But I was the young one and they were too expensive for my age, I was told. So I would always try and sneak my mom’s — but I would get caught every time. Now that we are all older we are all really great sharers!

PEOPLE: Kourtney, did your style change since becoming a mom? Kim, how do you think yours will?
Kourtney: Yes! I am always searching for stylish and comfortable flat shoes. It’s harder to wear a dress or skirt when I am with my children. I love to get down on the floor and play and go down the slide! I have always loved shorts and pants, and I just wear them more often now. And when I am out and about with my sisters, it is just more of an excuse to wear the clothes I don’t wear as often like some major high heels and a dress.
Kim: I will wait and see!

PEOPLE: How can mothers and daughters wear the Kardashian Kollection in age-appropriate ways?
Kourtney: I think it’s all about how a piece is styled. I love our blazers and jackets because they can be worn in so many different ways. Our leggings are for all ages. We do some fun fashion prints that anyone could wear, depending on what you pair it with.
Kim: Some pieces are so classic they are perfect for any age! I think our blazers are the perfect example of that. My mom and I always wear them!

Want to win a handpicked set of Kardashian Kollection clothes for you and your mom? Read the rules, below, then be the first to Tweet us @stylewatchmag with a PeopleStyleWatch.com link to a Kardashian outfit you’ve been loving lately. Good luck!
